How To Shop And Eat Healthy
Eating healthy balanced meals has the single greatest impact on our long-term health. A healthy diet, though, has also become one of the hardest things to attain and maintain in our culture today.
Only 2% of the American population consumes a healthy balanced diet on any given day.
Why Has Eating Healthy Become So Hard?
With the increase in technology (the internet-information age), and the introduction of processed/manufactured foods, consumers have become confused about what it means to eat healthy. There are so many conflicting messages out there about eating and what’s good for you and what’s not.
In addition to this, so many more families today are raised by either single-parents or both parents working full-time. These families struggle with eating healthy meals at home simply due to the constraints on their time. How do these parents find the time to prepare healthy foods?
As a working mom of three, I have been trying to feed my family healthy meals for the last eight years. I’ve learned that there are really only two keys that will determine your success or failure in this endeavor.
I. Having The Proper Definition of “Healthy Food”
In trying to shop and eat healthy, it’s important to start with the correct definition of what makes a “healthy food.”
If you’re not sure what a balanced meal or proper portion sizes are, you will surely fail at attaining a healthy diet.

II. Planning For Meal-Time Success
The parents who fail to plan to eat healthy meals each week plan to fail. I’ve been there. Taking extra time to plan is not always easy…actually, it’s never easy. There are many weeks where I have to fight for this planning time–or lose a little bit of sleep in order to get it.
